Amanda Schaffer is a science writer focusing on medicine and health. She has written for the New Yorker about vaccines and epidemic disease, how our bones influence our minds, and how Jehovah's Witnesses are changing medicine. Formerly a science and medical columnist for Slate, she has also contributed to the New York Times science section, the Washington Post, the Atlantic, Neo.Life, and Bookforum.
